Foreword

 

The web page http://:americanlegionpost407elptx,org began as the principal yearly record but soon grew into a dual pronged effort to develop and grow this Northeast El Paso American Legion Post, it is a Historic document for A small, thirty four (34) year old American Legion post. The post has dedicated their post to a departed Comrade (LTC George  Franklin Aiken). The Post Historian is writing, and publication of this on going History of this post inception 1991 to present 2025.  This site list our command staff, membership roles, awards, post actives and post upcoming events.  The member of this post are the post source of strength which allows the post to accomplish its mission and actives.

The membership of this is made up of Veterians from all branches of the Military, Army, Nave, Marines, Air Force, and the Space force from all walks of live, all ethnics,  all sexes and all nationanalites. Our membership is not based only in the El Paso, Texas Region but are based all over the country and can attend each meeting on line (via video conferencing) and read our meeting minutes on our web site. Members of LTC. Atkinson American legion post can participate in multi ways to include attending meetings, donate time, supplies or money and promoting the American Legion and the post by wearing their caps and promoting the post. The post challenge is to focus on the servicing 1. Post members 2. Veterans of all branches, 3. Veterans Affairs, 4. The American legion, 5. The community in which the members live , 6. The state of Texas and 7. The United States at large.  The post goals are to increase the volunteer time each member contributes in each of the goals listed earlier.  (Recording results to the District, State and National American legion) The Preamble to the American legion constitution (click here to review), and the Veterans creed (click here to review) are Ideals, a set of missions and battles that can not be decisively won or last-only fraught for, be decisively won or lost- only fought for.  These Ideals serve as a vision for our post, our members, our  District, our State, and the National American legion
